Algeco UK’s recycling bins make it easier for workplaces to comply with new waste legislation
Leading temporary accommodation specialists Algeco UK is helping UK businesses comply with new recycling rules set to kick in at the end of this month (March), thanks to its range of segregation-ready recycling bins.
From March 31, all workplaces with ten or more employees, as well as waste collectors must separate their dry recyclables, paper and card, food waste and black bin waste.
The new ‘Simpler Recycling’ legislation, which was announced by the Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs (DEFRA) towards the end of last year applies to workplaces across all sectors, including construction site kitchens, offices, canteens, changing rooms and welfare units.
Algeco UK is a leading provider of permanent modular buildings, temporary accommodation and storage containers. It also provides a wealth of additional turnkey solutions via its 360° Solutions offering which also includes customisable recycling bins.
Tom Baker, UK Director – 360, said: “While the new legislation is aimed at simplifying workplace waste segregation, it is undoubtedly going to put added pressure on organisations. Correctly organising your waste into all of the various different workstreams is time-consuming and complex, particularly for organisations that produce lots of waste.
“Our range of high quality, customisable recycling bins can help businesses comply with the upcoming waste management regulations with ease. They are designed to effortlessly streamline waste separation, reduce clutter and promote sustainability in the workplace, all within a sleek and compact design.”
The bins are clearly labelled, stackable and can be color-coded to help staff comply with the new regulations. They incorporate multiple compartments and are supplied with lids to reduce odours from food waste.
According to DEFRA’s guidance: ‘Workplaces can decide on the size of containers and frequency of collections based on the volume of waste they produce. You do not need to provide bins for your customers, however, if you provide bins, you will need to separate dry recyclable waste, food waste and black bin waste.’
