The Workplace Depot
The Challenge
The Workspace Depot originally considered shipping containers as a storage solution over 10 years ago, as space had become a premium at their previous premises. In late 2013, the business saw a pickup in orders following the launch of its new website – www.theworkplacedepot.co.uk – and needed to hold more stock. The existing warehouse was full to bursting and the only way to quickly increase capacity was to utilise an efficient solution, such as storage units. As time progressed as the business grew, new challenges and storage needs emerged to match an increasingly diverse and enhanced product offering.
The Solution
The Workplace Depot chose a storage container from Algeco UK* and this was used to cope with initial stock overflow. By 2024, the company has grown significantly and currently accommodates 15 Algeco UK storage units to store surplus stock.
These 20ft containers are lined up next to each other on-site, a site to behold, comparative to the length of a Premier League football pitch or the height of the Statue of Liberty and Big Ben!
Some of the items securely stored in these shipping containers include 280 x Utility Bins, 267 x Chain Barriers and 116 x Expandable Gates. All items are boxed for ease of handling and storage.
On partnering with Algeco UK for storage needs, Annabelle Earps, Digital PR Manager at The Workplace Depot, said,
“We have increased the efficiency of our logistics over time and have managed to reduce this by two months, furthering our ongoing need for secure storage space. This has enabled us to increase our product range, which also necessitates our need for overflow solutions.
Algeco UK are always prompt with their deliveries to meet our need for increased storage space. This has helped our logistical processes and storage solution to become more efficient and cost-effective, contributing to our enhanced turnover from £2.4 million to an expected £15 million in just over a decade.”
